The AISL wiki hosts information on common library questions and topics relevant to school librarianship.
If you have a question you might find the answer there.
If you have an answer you can share it with other librarians.
Getting to the wiki is easy, it’s at http://aisl.pbworks.com/ .
- Log in with your e-mail address and password.
- If you don’t have access, click the “request access” button and fill in the information.
(If you’re current with your dues, you’ll be added pretty quickly.)
The main page covers general information about AISL and the member directory, but there’s much more information available.
At the very top right corner you’ll find the Account link where you can change your password, add a profile picture and update your e-mail address. Under the Home tab of the Account, you can set notification preferences so you get e-mail (or not) when changes are made to the wiki.
In the right-hand column you will find the Sidebar with links to pages about AISL related topics, and the Navigator with links to all the pages and files on the wiki. Near the top of the column you can chose to Create a Page or Upload your own files.
You can edit any page using the Edit tab at the top, so if you want to add your own experience or information on a particular subject, feel free to hit Edit and start typing. Don’t worry about messing things up, any changes can be reverted.
Once you’ve logged in, a good place to start is the member directory. Look for your school in the list, click the link, and check your information. Use the Edit button at the top of the page to update things. If you don’t find your school in the list, you can make your own school page by copying one of the existing pages (give it a new name, and fill in your own information), then adding a link from the member directory.
For wiki assistance, or if you’re interested in going beyond the basics, PBWorks offers some really good instructional videos for using their wikis at http://pbworks.com/content/supportcenter.
